“You are what you eat”

“You are what you eat” is a familiar statement.
Health and wellness is a vast topic with so much room for discourse. Personal responsibility for the ongoing maintenance of body, mind and spirit can be overwhelming. What! Really? I am a result of the things I take in with my senses and my major body parts?
Think exposure. Think choices. Think finances. There are so many variables in our culture to distract us from staying healthy, especially as we age. Why is obesity in all ages a current issue? Great question!
Food for the physical body is one segment for discussion on this forum, yet there is sight, sound and learning that can affect how the brain reacts as we grow and mature. Let’s not overlook the spirit and our emotions. Every portion of our humanity affects our human self.
The family is and has been the foundation of the healthy individual where a safe, stable and loving relationships are formative at an early age. In the family environment exposure and choices are protected during childhood until the adult brain is fully matured.
Parents have responsibility for their children, but does the community also have responsibility as well to provide a protected environment? Iredell county is a great community of people who care about health and wellness.
